Jeff Smith

Jeff served five years in the US Air Force as a Logistics Readiness Officer at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs Colorado. He did one tour to Iraq in 2011 in support of Operation New Dawn. He has a BA in Communications and an MS in Space Systems Operations Management. He has been a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics since 2009, and the National Space Society since 2011.

Jeff has gone from space enthusiast to space activist by getting involved and volunteering for numerous space organizations like the Space Frontier Foundation, the National Space Society, the Space Finance Group, the Space Foundation, and Mars World. His volunteer work has been in four main areas: business development, journalism, finance, and education, which often overlap. For business development he is currently a volunteer consultant for John Spencer the architect of Mars World. Mars World is going to be a highly immersive attraction, resort and casino in Las Vegas Nevada. For journalism he is currently serving the Space Frontier Foundation as a Writer and Editor for NewSpace News which is a monthly article that reports on the current events in the New Space Industry. Jeff also got an article published in the August 2016 issue of Southwest Airlines promoting the new Integrated Space Plan. For finance he is currently the Investor Relations Manager for the NewSpace Venture Labs through the Space Frontier Foundation. Jeff also helped the Space Finance Group with the creation and edition of the new Integrated Space Plan. The Integrated Space Plan is a timeline of our future in space for the next 100 years. In education Jeff placed 2nd out of 900 in the National Space Society’s Space Ambassador Competition where he presented to over 2700 K-8th grade students across 30 schools and through a donation from the US Olympic Table Tennis Team was able to give 1000 students their first near space experiment using a high altitude weather balloon and ping pong balls through JP Aerospace’s PongSat program. Jeff is also volunteering once a week at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science as a Galaxy Guide in the Space Odyssey exhibit where he presents customized shows while promoting space & STEM education to inspire every guest of the museum to reach for the stars!
