The 1st Annual Cities in Space Leadership Summit!

Held this November15, 2019 in downtown Austin, Texas, the Leadership Summit focused on what it means to be a great leader on this world and off!

The Leadership Summit opened to selected Cities in Space® team leaders, 6th-12th Grade. PARTICIPANTS WERE SELECTED BY THEIR RESPECTIVE TEACHERS.

By attending the Leadership Summit, these students became the first cadre of the Cities in Space Ambassador Program.

WHY?

Each year at Cities in Space, students and teachers are exposed to a wide variety of projects, listen to great speakers and performers and gain in understanding that in order to actually thrive, all are needed. Engineers, rocket scientists, agriculturists, lawyers, artists, musicians; for a thriving community, all professions and all passions are vital.

The Leadership Summit will help selected Ambassadors to go deeper and allow teachers to better explore the opportunities of space together with their students.

Students will return to their respective schools and Cities in Space teams to mentor, engage, and lead towards even greater success. They will connect with other school teams via the Ambassador network and collaborate for a greater, and continuing community of students!

WHAT YOU’LL DO AT THE CIS LEADERSHIP SUMMIT?

Students will bring their Cities in Space Team’s ideas for their separate projects to the summit for discussion, critique and brainstorming. Fellow students, industry professionals, and educators will give more extensive training on the WHY and how to better prepare, present, and collaborate for Cities in Space.

During the day, students will have opportunity to have small group discussion with Space Industry Professionals and key educators. Here, students can bounce ideas off and support each other, as well as gain key insights from current leaders in space, technology, and STEAM.

Students will also have a dedicated networking hour to meet and connect with other Ambassadors and view the Next Generation Space Exhibition at the museum.

Cities in Space is excited to present the Leadership Summit with a complementary IMAX screening of Apollo 11.

Cities in Space Ambassador Program

Through workshops and opportunities such as the Cities in Space Leadership Summit, STEAMSPACE is building its first Cities in Space Ambassadors.

At each leadership event, students will earn a designated Ambassador patch. As the year moves forward there will be opportunities for Ambassadors to travel in and outside of Texas to mentor, represent, and present for Cities in Space and STEAMSPACE. We will connect via teachers and guardians on these opportunities throughout 2020 and beyond.

STEAMSPACE believes in creating the leaders of tomorrow who will support a thriving, all inclusive community in the New Space Revolution!

Can’t wait to see you there and remember,

Keep Looking Up!

Holly Melear, CEO & Founder of STEAMSPACE Education Outreach and Cities in Space
